Athletics

Baltimore County Public Schools support the philosophy that a quality interscholastic athletic program is vital to the positive social, emotional, physical, and educational development of students. The interscholastic athletic program enhances and supports the mission of the school system to increase student achievement.

Here at LRTA we offer 7 interscholastic sports teams which are spread across three sporting seasons and are grouped as such below.

Fall Sports – Begin in September

  • Badminton (co-ed)
  • Cross Country (co-ed, but compete by gender)

Winter Sports – Begin in November

  • Allied Bocce (co-ed)
  • Boy’s Basketball
  • Girl's Basketball

Spring Sports – Begin in March

  • Allied Softball (co-ed)
  • Tennis (co-ed)
  • Track & Field (co-ed, but compete by gender)

Eligibility

A student would be deemed ineligible to participate on an interscholastic sports team if they meet ANY of the criteria listed below:

a. Earning less than a 2.0 GPA or more than one failing, incomplete, or medical grade in the preceding quarter.
Fall academic eligibility is determined by the fourth quarter grading period from the preceding year. This provision does not apply to incoming sixth grade students for initial fall eligibility.

b. Students who are 15 years old or older as of August 31 are ineligible to participate in the middle school interscholastic athletic program.

c. Failure to complete all of the paperwork distributed by the coach which includes the Athletic Permit and Pre-Participation Physical Form which are located on this page as well.

Certificate-bound students are academically ineligible if they have more than one failing grade for the quarter; GPA is not a factor.

In order to register for an athletics program at LRTA, please complete the following:

 - Look over the Eligibility Requirements document.  If a student is not eligible to participate, they will not be allowed to try out, even if all of the following steps are completed.

- Complete the registration process through Form ReLeaf.  If this is your first time using Form ReLeaf, take a look at the directions sheet that is attached.

- Get a physical completed by a doctor and turn in the completed physical form that is linked to Mr. Foley.  It is recommended that you print the document out and take it with you to the doctor.  Physicals can be completed by your doctor/pediatrician or by local UrgentCares, CVS Minute Clinics, Patient Firsts, etc. if you are having a tough time getting into your doctor in a timely fashion.  Physicals are good for one calendar year so a physical completed at the beginning of this school year will last until the same date next school year.

- Keep an eye on your registration status on Form ReLeaf, if it is accepted, you are all set for tryouts.  If it is not accepted, you will receive some sort of update on the status on Form ReLeaf explaining why.  If you have more questions, feel free to reach out to our athletic advisor Mr. James through e-mail at [email protected].

If you are interested in signing up, please check the eligibility requirements and sign up using our new online system FormReLeaf. Use the FormReLeaf instructions document linked HERE. If you have any problems or e-mail Mr. Kevin at [email protected].
