Back to School 2017-2018

Principal's Welcome Letter

Greetings Parents/Guardians and Students:

I bring you greetings on behalf of the faculty and staff of Loch Raven Technical Academy. I would like to welcome our incoming sixth grade students as well our new seventh and eighth grade students. I also would like to welcome our current seventh grade and eighth grade students back for another year of engaging learning experiences.

I am looking forward to seeing our students learn and progress here at LRTA. I strongly believe that our school is more than an institute of learning; I believe that it is a community of learners who seek to help and support one another. For those of you who are new to Loch Raven you will soon see that we are a group of individuals who truly care about our students and support them in any way that we can.

As we have planned for this school year this summer we have put plans in place to work to ensure that we institute programs and initiatives that develop our students not only academically but socially.

As it states in our mission:

Loch Raven Technical Academy Is A Place of Excellence Where We:

  • Are Ethical And Culturally Proficient Citizens
  • Engage In Rigorous Academic And Magnet Curricula
  • Communicate Well With Others
  • Work Together As A Team
  • Integrate Technology

Our main goal in education is to develop citizens who are productive and who make a difference for generations to come. We have worked over the summer to evaluate and assess our programs and systems that we have in place. As a result we have implemented new programs and procedures as well as improved some of our current programs and systems to ensure that your child receives the best education possible.

I also plan to continue work to ensure that we are communicating effectively.  However please keep in mind that you are always welcome to come by and visit your child’s classes to observe the instruction taking place whenever you would like. We have an open door policy here at Loch Raven so know that you are welcome at anytime.

This Back to School Information Packet is our first substantial form of communication with you. Please take some time to go through this packet. It is full of important information that will help you as you prepare for the new school year. If you have any questions about the information contained within please call the school office at (410) 887-3518 between the hours of 8:00am3:00pm.

Please enjoy the rest of your summer, and I welcome you once again and look forward to working with you.

Sincerely,

Stacey R. Johnson
