Visual Arts

Art is very much a part of our lives today, so much so that we take it for granted.  Our environment is infused with visual expressions, from TV, internet, advertising, clothing, video, packaging, architecture, publishing... the list is endless.  The visual arts curriculum helps your child not only produce art and express their personal viewpoints, but also helps them to identify process and decode large amounts of visual information readily available to them.

In LRTA's Visual Art Program, students are engaged in creating personal expressions in art using a variety of media.  By looking at a wide variety of art forms and artists, students will develop an understanding and appreciation of the artistic achievements of people from different times, places, and cultures.  Visual arts help students to develop skill and confidence in the areas of drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media, computer technology, and critical discussion about art.  A strong emphasis is placed on creative problem-solving in order to develop a student's ability to think in new and innovative ways.
